First of all, before we do anything, I have to ask: Have you see ‘Paris is Burning,’ the seminal late 1980′s documentary about New York City youths who spend their nights in dance halls Vogueing for personal glory? Well, if you haven’t, close this window immediately and go to Amazon.com and buy the thing. It’s so important. In my book, Very Classy, which you should also buy while you’re on Amazon.com if you haven’t, it’s in the required watching section. OK. So, now that you’ve done that, you can watch this video of a Vogueing ball that AmFar organized in New York City this week. W magazine’s Edward Eninnful was the first person who had emailed me about this, and when he said I would be going with the legendary Pat McGrath (the original Momma Makeup), there was no way I was missing it. Lily Donaldson, Richard Chai, Jason Wu, Zac Posen, Honey Dijon, Stefano Tonchi, Kellie Osbourne, Simon Doonan and even Fergie herself, who owes a thing or two to drag queen culture, were all there too. I made Karlie Kloss come join me, because I knew the queens would be living for her. I was so inspired on this fabulous night, all of which was to raise funds and awareness for AmFar, I whipped up a video and posted some pictures from our wild night.
