Bio

Derek Blasberg is a fashion writer, editor and New York Times best selling author. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri; after graduating as salutatorian of Affton High School’s class of 2000, he moved to New York City to attend New York University. He graduated in 2004 with degrees in Dramatic Literature and Journalism and immediately began his first job as an assistant at Vogue.

Blasberg is currently the Editor at Large of Harper’s Bazaar and Senior Editor of V magazine and VMAN, the fashion titles from arts collective Visionaire. He has previously contributed to Vogue, W, Elle, The New York Times, TeenVogue, The Wall Street Journal Magazine, 10, The London Sunday Times and Another Magazine. From 2006 to 2010, Blasberg was the Editor at Large of Style.com, where he kept a column called The Blasblog. Since 2009, he has written a column called Fast + Louche for Interview magazine.

In 2008, Blasberg edited “Influence,” the fashion and art tome conceived by Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, and has since contributed to several other books and literary projects. In April of 2010, Blasberg’s first book, “Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady”, a collection of humorous essays and illustrations that pertain to etiquette, was released by Penguin Publishing. In its second week, the book was certified a New York Times Best Seller; it has since been translated into several languages and published in countries in Asia, South America and Europe.

In October of 2011, Blasberg released “Very Classy: Even More Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady,” which is an expanded, updated and revamped version of the original best seller.

Blasberg lives in New York City with a dachshund named Monster.
